El Edge Rank de Facebook es un algoritmo que determina el número de fans a los cuales se muestra el contenido que publica en su página. Éste depende básicamente de tres factores:
1) El interés que despiertan sus publicaciones en sus seguidores
2) La afinidad que tiene cada uno de sus fans en relación a su página y al contenido que publica
3) La antigüedad o tiempo que transcurre desde que posteamos un artículo en el muro de nuestra página hasta que alguien entra a ver las actualizaciones de estado (noticias) en su página de perfil
Tener en cuenta cada una de estas tres variables así como saber en qué consisten es fundamental si quiere generar un mayor nivel de involucramiento con las personas que lo siguen y un mayor alcance cada vez que publica en el muro de su página.
El Interés
Está determinado por todas las formas de interacción que pueden tener lugar dentro de una página como por ejemplo los comentarios, los “me gusta”, las etiquetas, etc. Cada una de estas formas de interacción tienen una valoración diferente dentro del algoritmo de Facebook (los comentarios por ejemplo tienen más valor que los “me gusta”). Esto se mide a escala global dentro de la página teniendo en cuenta el total de interacciones que han tenido los fans con la página.
La Afinidad
Es el grado de involucramiento que tiene cada uno de sus seguidores con la página. Mientras más interacción haya de una persona con su contenido (o más veces consulte su página), más expuesta estará a la información que publica. De igual forma mientras menos interacción haya de un fan con una página, menos expuesto estará a recibir notificaciones en su timeline de noticias.
La Antiguedad
La antigüedad o tiempo que transcurre desde que ponemos un post en el muro de nuestra página hasta que una persona entra a ver las actualizaciones de estado en su timeline de noticias también afecta el Edge Rank, dado que mientras más amigos tenga esa persona, mayor será el número de actualizaciones que se producen en su timeline desplazando rápidamente lo que haya publicado.
